HYDERABAD: An improvised explosive device attached to a remote control was found on the road outside Mehran University of Engineering and Technology (MUET) in Jamshoro on Wednesday.
SSP Jamshoro Irfan Bahadur told the media that a rickshaw driver informed the police about the IED after which the police immediately reached the spot and cordoned off the area.
He told that the traffic including for the 3 universities in Jamshoro was rerouted until the Bomb Disposal Squad cleared the area.
The SP Special Branch Aamir Shah told that the bomb weighed around 5 kilogram.
According to him, 5 metal pipes filled with around 1 kg of explosives were attached and placed under protective roadside wall. The explosive was added to a remote control.
He informed that the BDS defused the bomb and cleared the road for traffic.
The SSP Bahadur said the police were investigating as to which terror outfit was involved said the police were in the act. – APP
