Reports of Operation Sindoor 2.0 Intensify Debate Over India’s Regional Strategy

Islamabad/New Delhi: Reports citing sources claim that India is preparing a new operational phase, referred to as Operation Sindoor 2.0, aimed at strengthening its security posture along the Line of Control (LoC) and advancing long-term strategic objectives.

According to the reports, an alleged confidential document from India’s Ministry of Defence outlines directives linked to a broader review of the situation in Kashmir. The document reportedly instructs military leadership to assess current political, social, and security developments and develop a comprehensive strategy that includes a range of military and non-military options.

The reported document states that recent developments have created conditions that New Delhi considers favorable for pursuing long-term strategic goals. It also claims that coordinated measures have disrupted the activities of opposing networks, creating what officials reportedly view as an important opportunity.

Among the key objectives mentioned are strengthening military and security positions along the Line of Control, enhancing coordination with supporting networks, and preparing for the next phase of strategic planning. The reports suggest that authorities are evaluating multiple scenarios as part of the process.

The Ministry of Defence has reportedly been asked to prepare updated recommendations on operational planning and the potential use of forces. These proposals would then be presented to the National Security Committee before being submitted for final approval through the relevant government channels.

Security analysts believe that if Operation Sindoor 2.0 moves forward, it could affect the balance of power along the Line of Control and influence the broader geopolitical environment in South Asia. At the same time, the reported directives emphasize that any future actions should remain consistent with national policy and international obligations.

The reported development has raised concerns that tensions between India and Pakistan could increase again, particularly in the sensitive Kashmir region.
