A tragic event unfolded in Balochistan’s Harnai district when a mine collapsed following an explosion, trapping eighteen miners underground.
Immediate rescue operations were launched to extricate the trapped miners from the hazardous conditions below ground.
Abdul Ghani, Chief Inspector of Mines in Balochistan, disclosed that the collapse occurred in the Zard Alu area of Harnai, initially ensnaring ten miners due to the buildup of gas.
At present, the rescue teams from Shahrigh and Quetta have been mobilized to assist in the mission to free the 18 trapped miners. Despite concerted efforts, the miners remain trapped underground.
This incident underscores the perilous working environment in Balochistan’s coal mines, where around 100,000 workers toil under insufficient safety measures.
With more than 3000 coal mines operational, miners are continually exposed to life-threatening hazards. Sadly, such accidents claim the lives of over 100 miners each year, emphasizing the critical need for improved safety protocols and heightened vigilance in the mining industry.
