Romania, Sindh Explore New Partnerships in Trade, Education, and Renewable Energy

Romania’s Ambassador Dan Stoenescu met Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah on Tuesday to discuss expanding bilateral cooperation in trade, investment, education, energy, and culture. The Romania, Sindh Explore New Partnerships in Trade, Education, and Renewable Energy dialogue marked a significant step toward strengthening economic and diplomatic relations between Romania and the Sindh province.

According to an official statement, Ambassador Stoenescu conveyed Romania’s keen interest in boosting collaboration across key sectors, including industrial manufacturing, textiles, food processing, information technology, and renewable energy. He proposed establishing a Romania–Sindh Economic Dialogue Platform to connect Romanian stakeholders with Sindh’s business chambers and promote Romanian participation in the province’s Special Economic Zones.

The meeting also explored opportunities for cooperation in renewable energy — particularly wind and solar power projects in the Jhimpir Corridor — as well as agriculture and agro-industrial ventures. These initiatives are expected to progress further through upcoming Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) between Constanța Port and Karachi Port.

Both sides discussed the possible establishment of a private Romanian university campus in Karachi that would offer academic programmes and scholarships for Pakistani students. The ambassador also expressed Romania’s readiness to share European Union-aligned expertise in governance, urban planning, and digital administration.

Romania also announced its participation in the World Culture Festival being held in Karachi from October 30 to December 7, reflecting the two countries’ growing cultural engagement. Discussions additionally covered cooperation in climate resilience, water management, and sustainable urban development, with Romania sharing experience from its management of the Danube River Basin.

The ambassador further revealed that a Romanian business delegation will visit Sindh next year to follow up on the projects and initiatives discussed during the meeting, signaling a new era of economic and cultural collaboration between Romania and Pakistan.
