RPG Blast in Lakki Marwat Kills 5 Children; Locals Reject Anti-State Propaganda

A heartbreaking tragedy unfolded in Lakki Marwat’s Sheikh Badin Range, where an RPG round—left behind by militant elements—exploded while children were playing. Locals have now come forward with eyewitness details, rejecting the baseless propaganda and calling for restraint in spreading false information.

According to residents, the area where the incident occurred was once used by the outlawed militant group, Khawarij. On the day of the incident, several children were playing when they found an RPG round. Mistaking it for a toy, they took it home. While they continued playing with it, the device exploded.

The powerful blast resulted in the martyrdom of five innocent children and injuries to at least twenty others. The entire local community has been left in grief and shock.

Local elders and eyewitnesses have urged people not to politicize the incident. “This is a tragedy for the whole community,” they stated. “Linking it to any state institution is deeply regrettable and shameful.”

They condemned the spread of disinformation on social media and emphasized the need for responsible behavior. “Avoid spreading fake news and stop making baseless accusations against state institutions,” they urged.

Residents further clarified that the tragedy had nothing to do with the army or any law enforcement agency. “The incident must be seen for what it is—a painful accident caused by the dangerous remnants of terrorism,” they said.

The Sheikh Badin Range, they added, has long been a former hideout for militant groups. Abandoned weapons and explosives from that era remain a hazard. Efforts to clear the area are ongoing, but such incidents are a grim reminder of the threats still lingering from the past.
