Peshawar: The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has arrested the Chief Executive Officer and a regional director of Star Land Marketing in connection with a Rs3.73 billion financial scam, officials confirmed on Tuesday.
According to a NAB spokesperson, the accused allegedly defrauded the public of billions of rupees under the guise of investment opportunities. Another suspect has also been taken into custody as part of the ongoing investigation.
NAB stated that the suspects lured innocent citizens by offering fake and so-called “Shariah-compliant” profits on real estate investments. Instead of investing the collected funds in advertised housing projects, the money was misappropriated for personal use.
So far, investigations have revealed losses amounting to approximately Rs3.73 billion, with more recoveries expected as the probe continues.
The anti-graft body said it is conducting a transparent and comprehensive investigation to recover looted public funds and ensure that all those involved are brought to justice.
NAB has urged all affected individuals to submit their claims and relevant documents at the NAB Khyber Pakhtunkhwa office at the earliest.
