MOSCOW: Around eleven people have been arrested following terrorist attack on a concert hall in Moscow, Russian officials said.
Reports from Russian state news agency Tass relayed the latest developments to Russian President Vladimir Putin. The attack, which occurred at Crocus City Hall in Krasnogorsk, Moscow, claimed the lives of approximately 115 individuals, including three children.
Images circulated by Russian official media depicted emergency services still present at the site of the devastated concert hall, situated within a shopping complex and music venue with a capacity exceeding 6,000 people.
This violent incident transpired shortly after Russian President Vladimir Putin secured a significant electoral victory, further solidifying his authority. The assault stands as one of the deadliest in recent Russian history, unfolding amidst the prolonged conflict in Ukraine.
Initially reported as claiming over 60 lives, the casualty count in the Moscow concert hall attack is feared to escalate. Per local media, armed assailants clad in camouflage attire stormed the venue, initiating gunfire and deploying explosives, leading to a devastating fire engulfing the Crocus City Hall.
Numerous nations, including China, the US, France, and Pakistan, have unequivocally condemned the attack, extending condolences and expressing solidarity with Russia. Chinese President Xi Jinping conveyed his sympathies to President Putin, reaffirming China’s stance against global terrorism and pledging support for Russia’s security measures.
Similarly, the US expressed sorrow over the tragic events in Moscow, promising to gather more information on the incident to aid in the response. Pakistan also vehemently denounced the terrorist attack, labeling it as “horrendous” and standing in solidarity with the Russian people.
