Uncertainty clouds the healthcare landscape in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, as the insurance company overseeing Sahat Sahulat Cards issues a notice to halt treatment in the province’s hospitals.
The latest move follows previous interruptions in health card services, despite government assurances of debt repayment.
The insurance company, as per their notice, has ordered panel hospitals in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa to cease admitting new patients using Sahat Sahlaah Cards from October 19.
While citizens are understandably anxious about this decision, it’s not the first time healthcare services for cardholders have faced disruptions. Despite past government commitments to clearing outstanding debts, the insurance company’s recurrent interruptions raise doubts about the sustainability and reliability of the healthcare support system in the province.
The Sahat Sahlaah Card initiative, initially praised for offering access to quality healthcare in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and relieving financial burdens during medical emergencies, now faces skepticism due to its frequent interruptions. The ongoing concerns center around the program’s long-term viability.
