Sajid Qureshi Quits PTI, Aligns with Bilawal Bhutto’s PPP

In a notable political development, Sajid Qureshi joins PPP after leaving Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI). The former PTI Deputy Information Secretary made the announcement alongside his associates, marking his formal entry into the Pakistan Peoples Party.

Sajid Qureshi met Punjab Governor Saleem Haider at the Governor House in Lahore to confirm his decision. During the meeting, the two discussed the prevailing political landscape and party matters. Governor Haider warmly welcomed him into the PPP fold.

Speaking on the occasion, Governor Saleem Haider said the people of Pakistan have once again rejected the politics of protest. He made the remarks while referring to the recent agitation call given for August 5. “Our hard work will not go in vain, as the PPP always respects its workers,” he added.

The governor stressed that the public and political workers are tired of constant protests and sit-ins. “It is time to focus on development, stability, and the strengthening of democracy,” he said. According to him, Pakistan can no longer afford disruptive politics. He added that those trying to spread unrest have been clearly rejected by the people.

Governor Haider described PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari as a strong arm of the party. He also identified himself as a “Jayala” worker who was honored by the PPP with the post of Punjab Governor. He assured that new members, including Sajid Qureshi who joins PPP, would soon have close interaction with Bilawal Bhutto.

The governor said PPP stands by its workers in all circumstances. This, he explained, is why workers from other parties are returning to the PPP in large numbers.

On his part, Sajid Qureshi said his departure from PTI was due to frustration over protest-based politics and divisive narratives. He expressed hope in PPP’s leadership and said he believed in pursuing a constructive and national-interest-driven political path. He added that his joining reflects his commitment to stability and progress.
