Salarzai Jirga Vows Full Support to State, Rejects Terrorism in Bajaur

Bajaur Salarzai Tribe’s Jirga – Pledge to Support the State and Security Forces

On 12 August 2025, the Salarzai tribe in Bajaur’s Salarzai Tehsil held a jirga and unanimously decided not to shelter or facilitate terrorists under any circumstances.

Addressing the gathering, tribal elder Malik Khanzada said that if peace could be achieved through jirgas alone, the Mamond jirga would have restored calm in the area. He added, “The reality is that the Taliban neither respect the Quran, nor the white beard, nor the white flag. Their belief lies only in power and the gun — and that is the only language they understand.”

Malik Khanzada warned that if the tribe remained passive and did not support the state, terrorists would displace them from their homes, just as they did with the people of Mamond. He pointed out that Mamond residents facilitated and sheltered these terrorists, which ultimately cost them their peace.

He highlighted that Salarzai’s peace exists because its honorable elders never gave shelter to militants and never became their facilitators. “That is why our area is still safe, and this is the result of our collective resistance,” he said.

The Salarzai jirga concluded with a firm decision that the tribe will never tolerate terrorism. Malik Khanzada said, “This peace exists because of our sacrifices, and it is the reason why the Salarzai tribe enjoys respect and recognition across the country.”
