Pakistan captain Salman Ali Agha says the national side is fully prepared and focused on delivering a strong performance as anticipation builds ahead of the high-stakes match against India.
Speaking at a press conference in Colombo, Agha described all-rounder Usman Tariq as the team’s “trump card,” adding that criticism over his bowling action was unnecessary as it had already been cleared twice.
He also backed star batter Babar Azam, saying his form was not a concern for the team. “Babar is scoring runs and we expect him to play a big innings again,” the captain said.
Agha stressed that the squad was ready for all conditions. He said spinners would play a key role against India, but the team also had quality fast bowlers who could be used effectively. He added that contingency plans were in place in case of rain or a reduced-overs match.
“For me, all 15 players are important. Anyone can step in and win a match. The spirit of the team must remain the same,” he said, adding that while playing in familiar conditions was an advantage, victory would depend on executing good cricket on the day.
The captain admitted Pakistan’s World Cup record against India has not been strong but said the team had learned from history. “We have planned for their entire playing XI and will try to play our best cricket,” he added.
