Anum Mirza, the sister of former Indian tennis star Sania Mirza, took to social media to formally announce the divorce between Sania Mirza and cricketer Shoaib Malik. This confirmation follows joint wedding photos shared by Shoaib Malik and actress Sana Javed on Instagram on Saturday, January 20.
Initially reported by sources and later supported by Sania Mirza’s father, Imran Mirza, during a conversation with Indian media, the divorce was officially acknowledged on Sunday morning. Anum Mirza released a statement on Instagram on behalf of the family and Sania’s team, revealing, “Sania has always kept her private life hidden from the public, but today the need has arisen for her to share with everyone that a few months have passed since Shoaib and her divorce.” The statement also conveyed Sania’s best wishes for her ex-husband Shoaib’s new life.
Anum Mirza urged fans not to engage in spreading false news and emphasized the importance of respecting the family’s privacy. Sania Mirza’s father, Imran Mirza, reiterated the same message on his own social media account.
Rumors of Shoaib Malik and Sania Mirza’s divorce had been circulating since December 2022, though neither party had confirmed or denied the speculations. The couple, who tied the knot in April 2010, welcomed their first son, Izhan, on October 30, 2018.
In a parallel development, rumors of divorce have surrounded singer Umair Jaswal and actress Sana Javed, who got married in October 2020. However, the couple has neither confirmed nor denied these speculations.
