SC dismisses Khan’s request seeking disqualification of Gulalai

ISLAMABAD: The Supreme Court (SC) of Pakistan on Wednesday dismissed a petition of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan regarding disqualification of Ayesha Gulalai.
A three-member bench of the apex court headed by Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP), Justice Saqib Nisar heard the petition of PTI Chief Imran Khan challenging a decision of Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP).
Imran Khan had moved the apex court challenging the ECP’s decision for not disqualifying the disgruntled leaders of his party Ayesha Gulalai.
However; hearing the case today, the SC sustained decision of ECP and dismissed Imran Khan’s petition said lawyer of Ayesha Gulalai.
During the hearing, the CJP remarked that Ayesha Gulalai had not tendered her resignation in written saying that politicians usually issue such statements.
It is worth noting that Imran Khan had moved the ECP seeking Ayesha Gulalai to be de-seated after she parted her ways with PTI; however, ECP rejected Imran Khan’s request.
