SC hear cases pertaining to tax on mobile cards, medical stents

ISLAMABAD: The Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP), Justice Mian Saqib Nisar on Thursday remarked that suspension of tax deduction on mobile phone cards was not only for 10 days.
Heading a three-member bench of the apex court while hearing the case, the CJP said that suspension of tax deduction on mobile phone cards would remain suspended until further orders.
Hearing yet another case pertaining to medical stents, the apex court summoned concerned authorities including chairman Drug Regulatory Authority of Pakistan (Drap) and secretary finance on July 7.
During the hearing, the CJP inquired as to why prices of medical stents were not brought down from Rs. 100,000 to Rs. 60,000.
Upon this, the court was informed that the prices were not reduced due to increase in the price of dollar.
The court while summoning the authorities concerned adjourned hearing of the case until Saturday.
