ISLAMABAD: The Supreme Court of Pakistan has ordered the federal government to compensate the victims of Quetta church blast victims.
A two-member bench comprising of Justice Umar Ata Bandial and Justice Ijaz ul Ahsan heard the suo-motu notice on the matter.
A representative of the Christian community, in the hearing, informed the court that Rs 7.2 million is missing from the prime minister’s package for the victims.
He added that the federal government had announced Rs 0.5 million for the seriously injured and Rs 0.3 million for those with normal injuries. The representative claimed that the government has not compensated the victims yet.
Justice Ijaz ul Ahsan asked Quetta District Commission Farooq Ateeq asked about the reason of delay in the distribution of the money.
The commissioner informed the court that the compensation could not be paid on time as there was a delay in the completion of medical report of the victims.
The top court ordered the Prime Minister House to ensure that the victims of the church attack are compensated for their loss.
The hearing of the case was adjourned till the first week of June.
