The Secretary-General of the Economic Cooperation Organisation (ECO), Dr. Asad Majeed Khan, will pay an official visit to Pakistan from April 8 to 10, 2025. This visit marks pivotal moment for Pakistan and ECO as the organization seeks to enhance regional cooperation and development.
During his stay in Islamabad, Dr. Khan will hold high-level meetings with key leaders of Pakistan. These include the President, Prime Minister, Deputy Prime Minister/Foreign Minister, and other senior federal ministers. In these meetings, the Secretary-General will highlight ECO’s current initiatives and share his vision for reforming the organisation.
Dr. Khan’s reform agenda is focused on revitalizing ECO and making it more responsive to the needs of its member states. He aims to strengthen partnerships within the region and explore ways to deepen cooperation with Pakistan in various sectors. The visit reflects ECO’s commitment to engaging with its members at the highest levels.
Following his official engagements in Islamabad, the Secretary-General will also travel to Lahore. There, he will attend the 294th meeting of the ECO Council of Permanent Representatives. The Council meeting is scheduled to take place from April 12 to 15, 2025. This important event will bring together Permanent Representative of ECO member states to discuss organizational priorities and regional cooperation mechanisms.
Pakistan is one of the founding members of ECO and plays a vital role in the organization’s activities. Dr. Khan’s official visit is expected to further enhance Pakistan’s role in ECO and strengthen shared goals in trade, connectivity, energy, and sustainable development.
