DI KHAN: The Dera Ismail Khan (DI Khan) district administration has implemented Section 144 to ensure the maintenance of law and order. The order is set to be effective from January 6 to 14, aiming to safeguard the lives and properties of citizens and prevent any potential untoward incidents.
The imposed Section 144 entails restrictions such as a ban on pillion riding, the display of arms, and the assembly of more than five people at a single location. This decision comes in the aftermath of an attack on the convoy of Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam Fazal (JUI-F) leader Maulana Fazlur Rehman in DI Khan.
The recent incident, where Maulana Fazlur Rehman’s convoy was targeted near DI Khan Yarik interchange, prompted the imposition of Section 144. Fortunately, Maulana Fazlur Rehman remained unharmed, with no reported loss of life. Regional Police Officer (RPO) Nasir Mehmood Dasti clarified that the attack targeted the Yarik interchange police checkpost in DI Khan, and the assailants fled after facing a strong response from the police.
Notably, the interior ministry had previously issued warnings about serious threats to the lives of both Maulana Fazlur Rehman and Awami National Party provincial president Aimal Wali Khan.
