Security forces kill terrorists in two separate engagements across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, according to an Inter-Services Public Relations statement released on Friday. At least 10 India-backed Fitna al-Khawarij militants were eliminated during the operations carried out on Thursday.
In the first incident, troops foiled an attempted assault on security checkposts in the Azam Warsak area of South Waziristan district. “During ensuing fire exchange, eight khawarij were sent to hell through effective and precise engagements by own troops,” the ISPR said.
A second clash in Dir district the same day resulted in the neutralization of two more terrorists. Weapons and ammunition were recovered from the killed militants, who had taken part in multiple terror activities in the region.
Follow-up sanitization efforts took place to clear any remaining threats in the areas. The military reaffirmed its commitment to the ongoing counterterrorism drive under the Azm-e-Istehkam vision, aimed at eradicating foreign-sponsored terrorism from Pakistan.
Security Forces Kill Terrorists Amid Rising Threats
Pakistan has seen an increase in militant activity, especially in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan, since the Afghan Taliban assumed power in 2021. Islamabad has long maintained that India supports groups operating from Afghan territory to stage attacks inside the country. Authorities have repeatedly urged the Afghan Taliban administration to act against organizations using Afghan soil for cross-border strikes.
A Centre for Research and Security Studies report highlighted that Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan accounted for nearly 96 percent of all violence-related fatalities in the second quarter of 2026. Khyber Pakhtunkhwa recorded more than 61 percent of the deaths, totaling 475, while Balochistan saw 34 percent, or 265. The province also logged the highest number of violent incidents at 151, representing 57 percent of the national total. Balochistan followed with 94 incidents, or 35 percent.
These figures underscore the concentration of militant violence in the two provinces. Officials continue to stress sustained operations against groups such as the Fitna al-Khawarij.
