QUETTA: Security forces have intensified operations against militants in various parts of Balochistan, killing 22 more suspects during an overnight pursuit, security sources said on Tuesday.
According to the sources, the latest action is part of ongoing counter terrorism operations being carried out across the province.
They claimed that over the past three days, a total of at least 177 militants have been killed in multiple operations.
Security sources said that law enforcement agencies — including intelligence agencies and police — are continuing to tighten the noose around militant networks and alleged facilitators in different areas.
They added that further losses and casualties among militants and their facilitators have also been reported.
It may be recalled that a series of attacks were recently attempted in several districts including Quetta, Gwadar, Panjgur, Mastung, Noshki, Dalbandin, Kharan, Tump and Pasni, which security forces reportedly foiled.
During these incidents, attackers allegedly killed members of a laborer family in Gwadar, including a woman and three children.
Balochistan Chief Minister Sarfaraz Bugti said the militants would be pursued and that the fight against terrorism would be taken to its conclusion.
Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi praised security forces, police and intelligence agencies for timely and effective action, saying militant groups and their facilitators would be eliminated to restore peace in the province.
