Seven militants have been killed in two separate operations in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) and Balochistan, security sources said on Tuesday. The sources described the slain men as India-backed terrorists.
Security Forces Kill Two Terrorists in Chagai
In Balochistan, two militants were killed in the Nokcha area of Chagai district, according to security sources. The operation began after the group set fire to an empty water bowser and tried to escape.
The sources said the same militants were linked to arson attacks at several points along the N-40 highway.
They also noted that 11 terrorists from Fitna al-Hindustan, who had carried out similar acts of sabotage, were killed on August 31. Operations will go on until the last terrorist is removed from Balochistan, the sources added.
Five Militants Die in Bara Operation
In a separate action in Bara town of KP, security forces carried out an intelligence-based operation and killed five terrorists belonging to Fitna al-Khawarij, the sources said.
A large quantity of weapons and ammunition was recovered from the site. The operation also destroyed the militants’ hideouts completely, according to the sources.
They added that security forces remain committed to ridding the country of terrorism and establishing lasting peace.
Cross-Border Attacks Have Risen Since 2021
Pakistan has seen a sharp increase in cross-border terrorist incidents since the Afghan Taliban returned to power in 2021. Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan have been hit hardest.
Islamabad has repeatedly asked Kabul to stop militant groups from using Afghan territory to launch attacks inside Pakistan. Pakistan maintains that the Afghan Taliban authorities have not taken effective action against the groups responsible for attacks on its security forces and civilians.
