Security tightened in Islamabad ahead of possible TLP march

Security has been tightened in Islamabad and Rawalpindi amid reports of a possible march by Tehreek-e-Labbaik Pakistan (TLP), with containers placed on major routes and dozens of party workers detained in a large-scale crackdown.

According to officials, TLP has announced its plan for an “Aqsa Million March” from Faizabad to the American Embassy. In response, the Rawalpindi administration and police have finalized a security strategy and launched raids to detain TLP’s key organizers. So far, 117 activists have been taken into custody from different parts of the city.

Authorities are also considering the closure of key intersections and highways to maintain public order. Police have been instructed to prepare containers for potential roadblocks to prevent protesters from entering the federal capital.

Meanwhile, Rawalpindi Police have begun taking containers and trailers into custody to be used for sealing main roads if necessary. These have been parked along major arteries within police station limits, while in Islamabad, containers have already been placed near the Faizabad junction to block possible protest routes.
