ISLAMABAD: The Senate proceedings remained halted for about eight minutes on Wednesday when JUI-F lawmaker Hafiz Hamdullah protested on floor of the House demanding the Chair to allow him to speak on a matter of public importance.
During the debate on an adjournment motion, he sought the permission of the Chair to speak on a point of public importance regarding delay in passage of constitutional amendment from the Senate. The Chair asked him to debate the matter on Friday or speak on this matter of public importance after conclusion of debate on adjournment motion on petroleum prices. However, he insisted to speak immediately on which the Chair did not allow.
Around 7-8 Senators gathered around the insisting lawmaker and tried to convince him to take his time when debate on adjournment motion is over. Chairman Senate repeatedly asked the Senator Hafiz Hamdullah to sit on his seat otherwise he would name him.
The Senator left the House after tearing the copies of the agenda and did not return to the House till its adjournment till 10.30 am on Friday. …APP
