PINDI BHATTIAN: At least seven people, including three children, lost their lives on Saturday afternoon after the roof of a private academy collapsed, trapping students and staff under the debris.
Rescue workers rushed to the site and are continuing efforts to search for survivors who may still be buried beneath the rubble. The injured and deceased have been shifted to a nearby hospital.
Initial reports suggest that more than 10 people, including at least eight children, were present inside the building at the time of the collapse. Authorities said the cause of the structural failure has not yet been determined.
The tragedy has sparked concern about building safety standards and negligence in private educational institutions, as investigations are now underway.
