MULTAN/QUETTA: The bodies of seven labourers, victims of a tragic shooting in Balochistan, have been returned to Shujabad. Officials confirmed the bodies were received on Sunday. They were transported from Panjgur to Multan Airport by helicopter. There, KP Governor Faisal Karim Kundi, PPP MNA Syed Abdul Qadir Gilani, and PMLN MPA Salman Naeem were present to receive the bodies.
Deputy Commissioner Panjgur Zahid Ahmed Lango and DPO Panjgur Fazil Bukhari also attended the arrival. Afterward, the bodies were taken to Nishtar Hospital and handed over to their families. Funeral prayers for five of the labourers were held in Basti Chadhar, Basti Malook, and two in Shujabad. Deputy Commissioner Wasim Hamid Sindhu and MPA Salman Naeem participated, alongside a large number of local residents. The deceased were buried in their ancestral graveyards.
The slain labourers included Sajid, son of Allah Bakhsh; Faiz, son of Allah Dutta; Khalid, son of Fida Hussain; Shafiq, son of Faiz Bakhsh; Iftikhar, son of Iqbal; Salman, son of Faiz; and Bilal, son of Shaukat. Deputy Commissioner Multan Waseem Hamid Sindhu stated that all the deceased workers were from Multan Tehsil. He expressed that the Punjab government shares in the grief of the affected families.
In response to the shooting, the families of the seven labourers staged a protest against terrorism. They completely blocked the motorway M-5 and closed the Shujabad Basti Dad Interchange for all vehicles. Earlier, the bodies were flown to their native area using a helicopter. Following Chief Minister Bugti’s guidance, a helicopter from the Balochistan government arrived in Panjgur late Saturday night to facilitate this transport.
According to Balochistan government officials, the injured labourer was transferred to the CMH in Quetta under the chief minister’s orders.
