GWADAR: Unidentified gunmen carried out a targeted attack in the Sarbandar area of Gwadar, Balochistan, resulting in the tragic deaths of seven labourers from Punjab, police officials reported on Thursday.
According to Gwadar’s Station House Officer, Mohsin Ali, the assailants entered a residential quarter near the Fish Harbour during the night and opened fire indiscriminately, killing seven individuals and injuring another.
The incident occurred around 3:00 am when the occupants of the residential quarter were asleep. The victims, originally from Punjab’s Khanewal district, were barbers working in a salon in the Sarbandar area.
Upon receiving the news, law enforcement promptly reached the crime scene, cordoning off the area. The deceased were transferred to a morgue for autopsy, while the injured received medical assistance at Gwadar Hospital.
An investigation has been launched, and a case has been registered against the unidentified assailants.
Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi strongly denounced the terrorist attack, expressing profound sorrow and extending condolences to the bereaved families. He emphasized the government’s unwavering solidarity with them and vowed to eradicate terrorism completely.
Similarly, Balochistan Interior Minister Mir Zia Langau condemned the cowardly act of targeting innocent labourers, ordering a comprehensive report on the incident. He assured that the provincial government would take strict action against the perpetrators and ensure they face justice.
Administrative officers, under the directive of the provincial government spokesperson, have arrived at the scene and are collaborating with the district administration. Efforts are underway to reach out to the families of the deceased labourers.
