ISLAMABAD: Pakistan’s upper regions remain in the grip of intense cold, with fresh snowfall turning mountains white and freezing lakes across several areas, while tourism activity has increased in popular hill stations of Azad Kashmir, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, and Gilgit-Baltistan.
Islamabad continues to experience dry and chilly weather accompanied by fog, with the sky remaining overcast throughout the day. The Pakistan Meteorological Department said there is no likelihood of rainfall in the federal capital. In Lahore, cold weather has intensified, although a noticeable reduction in fog was observed. The city recorded a minimum temperature of 7 degrees Celsius.
In Murree, also known as the Queen of Hills, snowfall followed by sunshine enhanced the scenic beauty of the area. Tourists flocked to recreational spots to enjoy the pleasant weather and breathtaking winter views.
Upper areas of Hazara Division witnessed renewed snowfall, delighting visitors who had gathered in Nathia Gali over the weekend. Similarly, Malam Jabba presented a picturesque sight as heavy snowfall attracted a large number of tourists eager to enjoy the natural beauty of the valley.
In Gilgit-Baltistan’s Shigar Valley, the winter season began with the year’s first snowfall, bringing a sharp drop in temperatures and reducing water flow in streams and rivers. The snowfall was warmly welcomed by tourists visiting the region.
Meanwhile, cold conditions have also intensified in Quetta and other northern and central districts of Balochistan, further lowering temperatures across the province.
