A sexual harassment case has surfaced at the Islamia University of Bahawalpur. A visiting lecturer from the Department of Software Engineering has been accused of harassing a female student in return for academic favours.
Following the complaint, the university administration acted quickly. A formal notification barred the accused lecturer from entering the campus while an investigation is underway. The university’s Anti-Harassment Committee has launched a detailed inquiry. Officials say the matter will be handled strictly according to university rules and national laws.
The police have also stepped in. A case has been officially registered at the Baghdad-ul-Jadeed Police Station. According to the student’s written complaint, the lecturer intentionally failed her. He then made indecent demands, promising to pass her if she visited him at his residence.
She alleged that when she went to his home, he molested her. The harassment complaint also mentions that when she refused to comply, he demanded Rs50,000 in exchange for clearing her exam.
Law enforcement has promised a full and fair probe. Investigators say every legal angle of the misconduct case will be carefully examined. The university administration has strongly condemned the incident. Officials reaffirmed their commitment to a harassment-free academic environment. They assured that there is zero tolerance for any form of inappropriate behavior on campus.
Authorities are now urging anyone who has more information to come forward. As the abuse allegation investigation continues, both the university and police say justice will be ensured.
