LAHORE: Renowned Pakistani actress Shagufta Ejaz has faced backlash on social media following her recent trip to the United Arab Emirates (UAE), amid her husband Yahya Siddiqui’s ongoing battle with cancer.
In response, Ejaz has strongly defended herself through a video shared on her YouTube channel.
Ejaz’s trip to Dubai sparked criticism, with some social media users accusing her of marrying Siddiqui solely for his money and neglecting him in his time of need.
The actress, who has been caring for Siddiqui during his five-year struggle with cancer, shared screenshots of the negative comments in her video.
She also included various hadiths about slander and promised to hold the critics accountable on the Day of Judgment.
In her video, Ejaz clarified that her marriage to Siddiqui was not financially motivated but intended to provide a fatherly figure for her daughters.
She detailed that Siddiqui’s financial contributions were limited to household bills and one employee’s salary, while she manages all other expenses, including those for her daughters.
Ejaz emphasized her ongoing commitment to Siddiqui’s treatment, including monthly and quarterly injections and frequent doctor visits.
The actress expressed frustration that critics seem to overlook her dedication to her husband’s care and are instead focusing on her personal travels.
