DUBAI: The International Cricket Council (ICC) has unveiled the latest Test player rankings, with Pakistani fast bowler Shaheen Afridi securing a one-rank promotion among bowlers.
According to the ICC, India’s Ravichandran Ashwin maintains the top position in the Test bowlers’ rankings. South Africa’s Kagiso Rabada holds the second spot, while Australian captain Pat Cummins and Pakistan’s Shaheen Afridi have advanced to the fourth and fifth positions, respectively, each climbing one rank.
In the overall ICC Test rankings, New Zealand’s captain Kane Williamson retains his leading position. English batsman Joe Root follows at second place, with Australian batsman Steve Smith securing the third spot.
Former captain of the Pakistan cricket team, Babar Azam, claims the fourth position in the new rankings.
Notable movements include Daryl Mitchell from New Zealand rising to the 7th position, and Bangladesh’s Mushfiqur Rahim climbing four places to the 20th position.
In the bowlers’ rankings, Tim Southee from New Zealand and Mitchell Starc from Australia have moved up three places each to 11th and 10th positions, respectively.
Furthermore, Ravindra Jadeja from India holds the top spot in the ICC Test all-rounders category.
