LAHORE: Former Pakistan cricket team captain Shahid Afridi has been appointed as the ambassador of the International Cricket Council (ICC) for the T20 World Cup starting next month in West Indies and USA.
ICC has announced the inclusion of Shahid Afridi in the list of tournament ambassadors as Shahid Afridi was a member of the T20 World Cup winning team and the player of the tournament. Indian maestro Yuvraj Singh, West Indies’s Chris Gayle, and the iconic sprinter Usain Bolt were already appointed as ICC ambassador.
On this occasion, Shahid said: “ICC T20 World Cup is very close to my heart, was the player of the tournament in the first World Cup, won the trophy in 2009 and these are the remarkable moments of my career”.
He added that he is excited to watch the India-Pakistan match on June 9. It is a match between two great rivals and one will not miss it in New York.
