The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) is considering sending all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan back home after he was charged in connection with a murder case related to a recent tragedy in Dhaka.
Shakib is expected to miss the second Test match against Pakistan, scheduled for August 30.
The charges against Shakib involve the alleged murder of a garment factory worker named Rubel in Dhaka. A case has been filed against Shakib, former Bangladeshi Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, and actor Ferdous Ahmed, all of whom were former Awami League MPs in the country’s 12th parliament.
The complaint was lodged by Rafiqul Islam, the father of the deceased worker, at the Adabor police station in Dhaka. In the case, Shakib is listed as the 28th accused, while Ferdous is the 55th. Other individuals named in the case include Sheikh Hasina, former Road Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader, and over 150 others, as well as 400-500 unidentified individuals.
