Shehbaz meets MBS, reaffirms Pakistan’s support for KSA

JEDDAH: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif met Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman in Jeddah and reaffirmed Pakistan’s strong support and solidarity with Saudi Arabia.

The meeting took place during the premier’s visit to the kingdom. Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar and Chief of Army Staff Asim Munir also attended the talks.

At the start of the meeting, the prime minister conveyed his best wishes and respect for Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques. He also expressed deep appreciation for Saudi Arabia’s long-standing support for Pakistan.

During the discussions, the two leaders reviewed recent developments in the region. They also agreed to continue working together to promote peace and stability in the Middle East and beyond.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif reaffirmed Pakistan’s complete solidarity with Saudi Arabia in challenging times. He said Pakistan would always stand firmly with the kingdom and continue cooperation to achieve shared goals of regional peace.

Army Chief Field Marshal Asim Munir also reiterated Pakistan’s unwavering commitment to stand with the brotherly country. His presence at the meeting highlighted the strong defence and security cooperation between the two nations.

Images from the meeting showed the army chief wearing the Pakistan Army’s combat dress, which is considered symbolically significant during important engagements.

After concluding his engagements, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif returned to Pakistan. At the Royal Terminal of Jeddah International Airport, he was seen off by Prince Saud bin Mishaal bin Abdulaziz, Deputy Governor of the Makkah Region, along with Pakistan’s Ambassador to Saudi Arabia Ahmed Farooq and Consul General Syed Mustafa Rabbani.

Pakistan and Saudi Arabia share long-standing political, economic and defence ties. Both countries continue to cooperate closely on regional security and diplomatic matters.
