Shehbaz Sharif, Bilawal Bhutto agree to ease political tensions after weeks of exchanges

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Thursday held a telephone conversation with Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari after leaders from the ruling coalition agreed to restore calm within their ranks following weeks of public confrontation. The move marks a key step toward defusing political strain within the alliance.

Earlier in the day, a delegation of the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) led by Deputy Prime Minister Senator Ishaq Dar met with President Asif Ali Zardari at Zardari House in Nawabshah, where both parties reached a consensus to end their escalating political feud.

During the telephonic discussion, Shehbaz Sharif and Bilawal Bhutto Zardari reviewed the current political climate, flood-related challenges, and issues pertaining to Pakistan’s foreign policy, according to a PPP statement.
