Addressing a special celebration held at the Prime Minister’s House, the premier said that Diwali reflects Pakistan’s unwavering commitment to interfaith harmony, inclusion, and respect for all religious communities.
Shehbaz Sharif praised the Hindu community for their valuable contributions to Pakistan’s development, saying that minorities have always played a proud and commendable role in the country’s progress. He emphasized that the Constitution of Pakistan guarantees complete religious freedom to all citizens and that the nation’s majority has always rejected any form of discrimination or injustice against minorities.
Reiterating his message, Shehbaz Sharif Extends Warm Greetings to Hindu Community on Diwali by highlighting that Muslim and non-Muslim Pakistanis stand united in defending the nation and serving in vital sectors such as education, health, and social development.
The prime minister also outlined key government initiatives for the welfare of minority communities, including their representation in the Senate and provincial assemblies, a five per cent job quota in public departments, and scholarships under the Prime Minister’s Youth Programme. He mentioned the approval of the National Minority Commission Bill and the federal policy on interfaith harmony to further strengthen national unity and social cohesion.
Shehbaz Sharif concluded by saying that Pakistan is a land of peace, light, and tolerance, where hatred and extremism have no place. The event ended with the prime minister cutting a Diwali cake alongside members of the Hindu community, symbolizing harmony and national solidarity.
