Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif reaffirmed Pakistan’s unwavering commitment to supporting the Kashmiri people as they continue their struggle for freedom. He said that a peaceful settlement of the Kashmir issue, in line with United Nations Security Council (UNSC) resolutions, remains the only way to ensure the rights of the Kashmiris and lasting peace in the region.
In his message marking Kashmir Accession Day, the prime minister stated that Pakistan will keep extending moral, diplomatic, and political support to the people of Jammu and Kashmir. He emphasized that this day is celebrated every year on July 19 to commemorate the historic 1947 Srinagar session of the All Jammu and Kashmir Muslim Conference.
He recalled that on that day, the courageous people of Kashmir passed a resolution to accede to Pakistan, declaring their desire to join the state of Pakistan. “The saga of sacrifices that began in 1947 has not ended,” he said. “Even the presence of over one million Indian troops has failed to crush the determination of the Kashmiri people. Over time, their spirit for freedom has only grown stronger.”
Shehbaz Sharif highlighted that the third generation of Kashmiris remains as committed as their forefathers to achieving the right to self-determination. He praised the decades-long resistance of the Kashmiri population against illegal Indian occupation, calling it a true reflection of their patriotism and an unshakable desire for liberty.
