TANK: A Station House Officer (SHO) among three police officials martyred in a terrorist attack on a police party in the Tank district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on Saturday.
District Police Officer Iftikhar Shah said that Abdul Ali Khan, the Station House Officer, leading a police party in chasing for the kidnappers of an 11-year-old girl in the village Shah Noor of the district when unidentified men ambushed the policy convey.
As a result of the firing SHO Abdul Ali, constable Wahab, and Mohammad Alam were martyred while four others including a DSP were injured in the attack and were moved to the Tank Hospital.
Reports said that police conducted a raid upon receiving information about the presence of wanted criminals in the area. When they reached the areas, terrorists opened indiscriminate firing on them.
The injured policemen called for reinforcements, and a gun battle with the terrorists was still underway.
Later, the banned outlet Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan claimed responsibility for the attack.
