LAHORE: Australian star batter Steve Smith has been directly signed by Sialkot Stallionz for the upcoming Pakistan Super League (PSL) season 11, according to sources.
Insiders say the new PSL franchise secured Smith through a direct deal, making him part of Sialkot’s squad for the next edition of the tournament.
Sources added that the Australian cricketer chose Sialkot after being impressed by the offer and the team’s management setup. Smith recently delivered strong performances in the Big Bash League, further boosting his value ahead of PSL 11.
Former Australian captain Tim Paine has already been appointed head coach of Sialkot Stallionz. The franchise announced his appointment on social media earlier this month.
Sialkot Stallionz is one of the two new teams introduced for PSL 11. The franchise has been acquired by OZ Developers and officially named to revive the city’s historic cricket identity.
It is worth noting that Smith had previously expressed interest in playing in the PSL. If finalized, the deal could become one of the biggest signings in the league’s history.
