Sindh Government Working to Improve All Sectors, Says PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto

Karachi: Chairman of the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP), Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, has said that the Sindh government is actively working to improve all sectors, with a special focus on health and education, adding that world-class healthcare facilities are being provided free of cost to the public.

Addressing a ceremony on the performance and future strategy of the Sindh government, Bilawal Bhutto recalled that Pakistan had faced serious law and order and terrorism challenges in the past, particularly during 2008, when bomb blasts and terrorist attacks were a daily occurrence.

Focus on Healthcare After 18th Amendment

Bilawal Bhutto said that after the 18th Constitutional Amendment, the Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre (JPMC) was transferred to the Sindh government.

He said that in 2012, JPMC had 1,100 beds, which have now increased to 2,208 beds, enabling more patients to receive treatment. He added that even the most expensive medical treatments are now being provided free of cost to poor citizens.

He further said that the scope of the Food Complex was expanded in 2020, under which around 500 people are provided meals daily.

The PPP chairman said that 11 hospitals have been established across Sindh on the model of the National Institute of Cardiovascular Diseases (NICVD), significantly improving access to specialized cardiac care.

He added that major steps have also been taken in the education sector. “Until 2008, there were only 10 universities in Sindh. In 2017, Gambat College was established, which is playing an important role in promoting higher education,” he said.

Bilawal Bhutto reiterated that healthcare is a basic right of every citizen and said the Sindh government would continue its efforts to improve public services across the province.
