Sindh Home Minister Dismisses Rumours of Unrest in Karachi, Assures Complete Control

Sindh Home Minister Zia-ul-Hassan Lanjar has dismissed rumours of unrest in Karachi, assuring citizens that the situation in the city remains completely under control. In his statement on Monday, the minister said that strict action would be taken against individuals spreading false information or provocative content designed to create panic and chaos.

Sindh Home Minister Dismisses Rumours of Unrest in Karachi, Assures Complete Control after social media was flooded with unverified claims suggesting the city’s law and order situation was deteriorating, particularly following reports of possible protest sit-ins by Tehreek-e-Labbaik Pakistan (TLP). The home minister clarified that such rumours are baseless and urged the public not to believe in misleading narratives circulating online.

Lanjar warned that anyone attempting to disrupt peace or challenge the writ of the state would face strict legal action under Section 144. He directed the Karachi police chief to keep anti-riot forces on alert, ensure deployment at sensitive locations, and maintain a strong security presence across the metropolis.

The home minister also ordered the traffic police to ensure smooth vehicular flow throughout Karachi and maintain close coordination with law enforcement agencies to avoid congestion or public inconvenience.

His statement came amid widespread social media speculation about TLP-led demonstrations in Karachi, just hours after calm was restored in Punjab. Lanjar reiterated that peace and normalcy prevail in Karachi and that law enforcement agencies are fully capable of handling any situation.

Meanwhile, Karachi police also confirmed that no protests or sit-ins were taking place anywhere in the city. They clarified that a few shop closures were voluntary, triggered by unverified rumours, and assured that the overall environment in Karachi remains stable and peaceful.
