A diner in Singapore was shocked to discover an exorbitant charge of $2,000 on his bill for a rib eye steak meal that was priced at $20.90.
The diner, identified as Lin Zhi Hao by Singapore news outlet AsiaOne, found that Common Grill by Collin’s, a popular eatery, had mistakenly overcharged him for his meal.
Lin only realized the discrepancy after receiving the receipt, prompting him to immediately bring it to the attention of the restaurant staff.
Despite his complaint, Lin was informed that he would have to wait two weeks for a refund and was unable to receive an immediate resolution without managerial approval.
Although promised a follow-up contact, Lin was left uncontacted by the management as agreed.
Expressing his frustration, Lin emphasized the significance of the $2,000 overcharge, which represented a substantial portion of his income.
After investigation, Collin’s management acknowledged the error as an unintentional mistake by one of their servers and issued Lin Zhi Hao an apology for the inconvenience caused.
The restaurant also facilitated the refund process, according to reports from AsiaOne.
