SHANGLA: At least six people including five Chinese nationals have been killed when a vehicle in which they were travelling attacked in Besham area of Shangla district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. According to police, the suicide bomber rammed a car full of explosives into a passenger car. Reports suggest a suicide bomber targeted the passenger car, resulting in the loss of six lives.
Malakand Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of police Muhammad Ali expressed concern over the fate of five foreign engineers and their driver, who were believed to be among the casualties.
The attack, suspected to be a suicide bombing, has left several others injured. According to DIG Muhammad Ali, the targeted vehicle, en route from Islamabad to Kohistan, was struck by an explosive-laden vehicle, causing it to veer into a ditch.
Authorities swiftly cordoned off the area, with the Bomb Disposal Squad mobilized for investigation and safety measures.
International sources have reported that the victims, all Chinese engineers, were heading to their camp in Dasu. Notably, Dasu has been targeted in the past, including a tragic incident in 2021 where a bus blast claimed the lives of 13 individuals, including nine Chinese nationals.
