Lahore: Renowned stage actor Qaiser Piya was robbed at a traffic signal in Lahore, where criminals snatched his expensive mobile phone and fled the scene, police said on Tuesday.
According to police, the incident took place in Garden Town, where Qaiser Piya was travelling in his car. As his vehicle stopped at a traffic signal, one suspect approached the car, knocked on it and deliberately started an argument.
The FIR states that during the distraction, a second suspect arrived from the other side of the vehicle and took advantage of the situation, snatching Qaiser Piya’s valuable mobile phone before escaping.
Following the incident, Qaiser Piya submitted a formal complaint at Garden Town Police Station, after which police registered a case and launched an investigation.
Police officials say efforts are underway to identify and arrest the suspects involved in the robbery, while CCTV footage from nearby areas is also being reviewed.
The incident has once again highlighted the issue of street crime in Lahore, particularly robberies at traffic signals, which have become a growing concern for citizens, including public figures.
Residents have urged law enforcement authorities to increase patrols and improve security measures to curb such incidents.
