Three Swat athletes have written a new chapter in Pakistan’s sporting history by winning four medals at the MBW International Taekwondo Championship 2025 in Malaysia. The global event featured more than 4,200 participants from 32 countries, yet the young champions from Swat raised Pakistan’s flag high with their remarkable victories.
Among them, Ayesha Ayaz stood out once again. Known as Pakistan’s youngest taekwondo star, she proved her class by earning both a gold medal and a bronze medal. Since childhood, Ayesha has been a symbol of talent and determination, representing Pakistan on international platforms and motivating young girls to break barriers in sports.
Her elder brother, Mohammad Zaryab Khan, also brought pride to the family and the nation. He delivered a series of powerful performances and captured a gold medal, further strengthening the legacy of Swat athletes on the world stage.
The youngest sibling, Gulalai Ayaz, showed her grit and courage throughout the competition. She was honored as the Best Fighter of the Tournament and also secured a bronze medal, adding to Pakistan’s celebrations.
This is the first time in the country’s history that three siblings have together claimed four medals in an international taekwondo contest. Their extraordinary success has sparked jubilation in Swat and across Pakistan, where their story is seen as a symbol of hope and inspiration for the younger generation.
Speaking with pride after her victory, Ayesha Ayaz said: “I thank Almighty Allah for this success. I am grateful to my father, who has always been my source of strength, and to everyone who supported me. I especially thank Hassan Nisar, CEO of Metrix Pakistan, for always encouraging me and standing by me in this journey.”
Sports experts believe this achievement by the Swat athletes highlights the urgent need for more institutional backing of martial arts and other underrepresented games. They argue that with better training facilities and consistent international exposure, Pakistan’s players can turn into strong competitors on the global sporting scene.
The triumph of these young champions from Swat is not just a medal count. It is a message of courage, resilience, and national pride, proving that Swat athletes can shine on the world stage when given the right support.
