US cricket officials have announced that Stuart Law, a former Australian cricketer, will lead the United States team as head coach for the upcoming Twenty20 World Cup, describing it as “an exciting opportunity.”
Law, a 55-year-old former batter, will assume leadership ahead of a crucial three-match T20 series against Bangladesh next month. The US, along with the West Indies, is slated to host the World Cup in June.
While the duration of Law’s contract with USA Cricket remains undisclosed, Law expressed enthusiasm, stating, “It is an exciting opportunity to join USA Cricket at this time.”
With previous coaching stints with Bangladesh, the West Indies, and Afghanistan at the international level, Law sees promise in the US team, regarding them as one of the strongest associate nations in cricket. He aims to cultivate a formidable squad, starting with preparations for the Bangladesh series and then focusing on the forthcoming home World Cup.
USA Cricket chairman Venu Pisike lauded Law’s appointment, acknowledging him as “one of the most accomplished coaches in the sport.” Pisike emphasized Law’s extensive experience in nurturing international sides, expressing confidence in his ability to guide the team to its fullest potential.
