LAHORE | February 08, 2026: A major development is expected within the next few hours regarding the highly anticipated Pakistan–India match in the ICC T20 World Cup, sources said on Saturday.
According to sources, Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) Chairman Aminul Islam has arrived in Lahore to attend an ICC emergency meeting, while an ICC reconciliation delegation is also expected to reach Pakistan later today.
Sources said discussions between the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) and the ICC delegation will focus primarily on the Pakistan–India fixture. The ICC has reportedly assigned Deputy Chairman Imran Khawaja the responsibility of handling matters related to the high-profile match.
Meanwhile, BCB Chairman Aminul Islam is likely to take part in several key meetings involving the PCB and ICC. The heads of the cricket boards are expected to join the ICC emergency session online.
Sources further revealed that Aminul Islam is expected to meet PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi, where detailed discussions will be held on the current T20 World Cup situation, along with other cricket-related issues of mutual interest.
After attending the ICC meetings, the BCB chairman is scheduled to return to Dhaka later in the evening, sources added.
It is pertinent to recall that Bangladesh had requested the ICC to move its T20 World Cup matches from India to Sri Lanka, citing security threats and warnings from Hindu extremist groups. However, the ICC rejected the request, following which Bangladesh was removed from the tournament and Scotland was included as a replacement.
In response, Pakistan expressed full solidarity with Bangladesh and lodged a strong protest. As a mark of protest, Pakistan also announced a boycott of its group-stage match against India scheduled for February 15.
