Tajikistan Independence Day Marked in Islamabad

A ceremony was held in the federal capital to mark the 35th anniversary of Tajikistan Independence Day, underlining the lasting friendship and cooperation between Tajikistan and Pakistan.

Federal Minister for Planning, Development and Special Initiatives Ahsan Iqbal attended as chief guest. Tajikistan’s Ambassador to Pakistan, Yusuf Sharifzoda, hosted the event and welcomed the guests.

Among those present were Sardar Yasir Ilyas Khan, the Prime Minister’s Coordinator on Tourism, and Senator Talah Mahmood. Kaiwan Hamid Raja, CEO of Khyber Digital and Executive Director of Khyber Network, also attended.

Diplomats, government officials and members of civil society joined the gathering, a turnout that reflected the strong diplomatic and people-to-people links between the two countries.

As part of the programme, the chief guest, the ambassador and other prominent attendees cut a commemorative cake together to mark 35 years of Tajikistan’s independence.

Speakers at the event stressed the importance of Pakistan-Tajikistan relations, which they described as rooted in shared history, culture and mutual interests. They reaffirmed their commitment to expanding bilateral cooperation in trade, tourism, energy and regional connectivity.

The ceremony ended with prayers for the continued prosperity and progress of Tajikistan and its people, and for further strengthening of the fraternal ties between the two nations.
