Tank Suicide Bombing: 12 Security Officials Martyred at Checkpoint

A suicide bombing has struck Tank district, killing 12 security personnel and injuring more than 25 others in one of the deadlier attacks on security forces in the region this year. The blast targeted a joint checkpoint manned by police and the Pakistan Army in the Manjikhel area.

Officials said the attacker detonated explosives at the checkpoint, triggering the assault. What followed was an intense exchange of gunfire between the remaining assailants and security forces stationed nearby.

Security Forces Cordon Off Area After Tank Suicide Bombing

In the aftermath, security forces sealed off the surrounding area and launched a clearance operation to secure the site and pursue any remaining attackers. During the operation, three militants were reported killed, while search teams continued sifting through the rubble for additional casualties.

Rescue teams worked alongside security personnel to clear debris and recover the wounded. Officials confirmed that the toll from the checkpoint attack could still rise as clearance work progresses.

Bodies of Slain Personnel Moved to Hospital

Police sources said the remains of all 12 personnel killed in the attack have since been transported to hospital. Following the incident, authorities have tightened security across the district, with additional checkpoints and patrols deployed to prevent further attacks.

The Tank suicide bombing has once again drawn attention to the security challenges facing checkpoints in the region, with officials vowing that operations against those responsible will continue.
