QUETTA: A day after terrorist attack in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s Dera Ismail Khan that martyred 23 soldiers, Balochistan caretaker Information Minister Jan Achakzai has proposed to offer drone bases to the United States to target terrorist sanctuaries in Afghanistan.
Following the deadliest assault on security forces this year, where militants from Tehreek-i-Jihad Pakistan (TJP) attacked security forces in Daraban area, Jan Achakzai in the now deleted post on X (formerly Twitter) said that issuing a demarche to the Afghan government was inadequate and called for more stringent actions.
In addition to the proposal for drone bases, Achakzai outlined seven measures, including reprisal attacks in Afghanistan, special targeted operations, air strikes, border closure with Afghanistan, the return of Afghan refugees, and an anti-Afghan Taliban political opposition gathering in Islamabad.
The minister added: “Last, offer US drone bases to target AlQ [Al Qaeda] and other terrorist sanctuaries in Afghanistan.”
The minister stressed the urgency of conveying a strong message to the Afghan Taliban, saying that “enough is enough,” Pakistan will not tolerate what he termed a “double game.”
