KARAK: Three security personnel were martyred after terrorists carried out a quadcopter drone attack on a Frontier Corps (FC) fort in Karak and later targeted ambulances transporting the injured, police said on Sunday.
According to reports, the attack took place near Dargah Shaheedan in Bahadur Khel area within the limits of Khurram Muhammad Zai police station. Militants used a quadcopter drone to strike the FC fort, leaving five personnel injured.
District Police Officer (DPO) Saud Khan said the injured officials were being shifted to hospital when terrorists launched another attack. The attackers opened fire on ambulances and set them ablaze while the wounded were inside.
As a result, three injured personnel were martyred during the evacuation.
The DPO further stated that the attackers also targeted Rescue 1122 staff. Additional injured personnel were later shifted to Khalifa Gul Nawaz Hospital in Bannu for treatment.
Security forces immediately launched a search operation in the area. Officials confirmed that the area has been cleared and further investigation is underway.
Authorities condemned the attack and vowed to bring those responsible to justice.
