ISLAMABAD: Three Islamabad police officials have been suspended for failing to return possessions to Afghan refugees departing the country. The police statement revealed that Inspector General Nasir Akbar Khan acted upon complaints of refugees not receiving their belongings.
Consequently, the SHO, admin officer, and ASI of Shalimar police station were suspended by the SSP operations. The Islamabad Capital City Police Officer has initiated a departmental inquiry against these officials.
Following the November 1 deadline for voluntary return, authorities have started arresting refugees and relocating them to holding camps. The refugees remain in these camps until deportation arrangements can be made.
